Product Design Work
On this page you will find some of the design projects/concepts i have worked on that are not Transport orientated.
Train Seat 'Pay and Display'
Chair design that incorporates a system allowing the ticket master to easilly see who needs to purchase a ticket or who is trying to hitch a free ride. The ticket is placed in the slot infront of the passanger (on the rear of the seat infront). It then lights up the LED light on the passengers own chair to display a Green light if the ticket is valid. If no ticket is present or an invalid ticket is inserted a Red light is displayed. If the seat is free no light is displayed. This System will make it easier for the workers on the train, it will stop interruptions for passengers who have 'paid and displayed'.
Sustainable Jewellery..
With the big push on recycling and sustainable design in manufacturing. Why not use recycled material to create jewellery?
MAD might be the first thing that comes to mind, because jewellery is usually made from precious materials right? but why?
The concept explores a pendant and earing collection. The transparant plastic pendant is made from recycled plastic, similar to that used in the automotive industry for headlights and indicators. The centerpiece that 'holds' the pendants together is an anodised metal coin, similar to a currency coin. Also explored is the look of the design using wooden pieces.
The idea is a noval one, but sustainable design is the 'in' fashion. Inexpensive (to manufacture), environmentally friendly jewellery.
Watch Designs
Below are some quick watch designs i decided to create, i am aiming to create many different styles so watch this space! (no pun intended)
SolarSystem Concept
This is the first idea i came up with. Using current watch styling and trying to create a whole new look without straying too far from what people will readily accept design wise. This concept moves away from traditional watch hands to point to the time, and instead uses a revolving system that circulates the arrows around the watch face, in a similar way to planets revolving around the sun. Battery placement will be in the elongated space below the watch face and mechanical systems in the upper section.
Rotation Concept
This watch again uses a different technique to display the time. It adopts the rotation technique usually used by a calander/date system on a watch, and lends its simplicity to displaying the hour and seconds on a live rotational display, whilst the minutes are displayed in a digital format beneath, it allows for an easy read and a different look. The design also has 3 circular displays showing day, date and month.
