Major Project - Truck Cab

"The noisy, polluting, gas guzzling giants are being tamed to look more demure and sophisticated, and how! The Scania Concept that we see here is a pure reflection of this new theory and is a bid to change the perception that trucks are the big bullies of the highway. It is designed to be eco-friendly and economical by using a diesel-electric hybrid engine. The innovative part comes on the wheel-hub design that sports indicative color-coded LEDs that point out speeding and other rules broken."

YankoDesign

The concept aims to develop a truck based on existing chassis, and looking to achieve the following:

Tackle the bad image associated with HGVs (noisy, polluting, gas guzzlers etc)
Reduce the threatening appearance of the vehicles to other road users
Improve the experience for the driver, and provide practical solutions for the interior space.
Improve safety for the driver, and other road users

The Concept was developed during my final term at University as my major project from January - May 2009.

Trucks are often seen as threatening, noisy, unsafeand harmful to the environment, giving bad perception of the vehicles. Most other road users are
intimidated by these large vehicles an as a result they are not appreciated on the road.

The scania concept takes a stand to change this perception. The vehicle is designed to be friendly to the environment, using a diesel-electric hybrid engine to incread economy and reduce harmful emissions to the environment. The design challenges current trends in HGV design in order to create a more friendly appearance and reduce intimidation on the road..

Final Design Show 2009

The below images are of my final degree show. My work went on display in the art and design building at Huddersfield University. It was a great evening, my work was displayed in prime position and i had never felt as proud.

please note that the project on this page has nothing to do with the Scania brand directly and is entirely my own work.
